Boomer Intellectualism #13
Hi there,
As promised, I have some great videos, articles, books, and so much more this week. Last week I was a bit lazy in writing stuff keeping in mind that this is something important and valuable for me. This newsletter is like a journal for me and I have been overwhelmed by my willpower; now I have written more than 12 newsletters which took me 3 months to do so.
Songs/Artist/Playlist Recommendation :
Feels : Binge listening,if it’s a term, to AP Dhillon for the last 4 days. It happened when one day out of nowhere excuses by AP Dhillon was constantly in mind.
Jugband Blues : I discovered this song after watching a short video about Syd Barrett, an early founding member of Pink Floyd. This was the last song written by Syd Barrett for the Pink Floyd band. I found it so interesting because at the time when this song was being written Syd was suffering through some sort of mental disorder. He used to perform weirdly on stages in some concerts and also sometimes used to stop between the concert in front of thousands of people. The line in the song ‘it’s awfully considerate of you to think of me here‘ shows the deep sadness inside Syd’s mind and he was aware of everything that was happening to him.
Moora : It has the vibe of a semi-rural girl lustfully adoring his husband and hoping for everything with him to get in order and he gets what he wants. Must listen if you can understand hindi.
Articles Recommendation :
Nietzsche on Walking and Creativity : “Sit as little as possible; do not believe any idea that was not born in the open air and of free movement — in which the muscles do not also revel… Sitting still… is the real sin against the Holy Ghost.“
The Trap of External Validation for Self-Esteem
Poems Recommendation :
For Twenty Year Olds Who Have Never Been Loved by meggie royer
Tonight I Can Write The Saddest Lines by Pablo
Be Kind by Charles Bukowski
Drunk Again by Charles Bukowski
A Smile To Remember by Charles Bukowski
Alone With Everybody by Charles Bukowski
The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski
The Proof Of Worth by Edgar Albert Guest
On The Necessity Of Sadness by Mikael de Lara Co
Mad Girl's Love Song by Sylvia Plath
Consummation of Grief by Charles Bukowski
Some extra stuff to read :
Go gentle into that good night : “Looking at the stars always makes me dream, as simply as I dream over the black dots representing towns and villages on a map. Why? I ask myself, shouldn't the shining dots of the sky be as accessible as the black dots on the map of France? Just as we take a train to get to Tarascon or Rouen, we take death to reach a star. We cannot get to a star while we are alive any more than we can take the train when we are dead. So to me it seems possible that cholera, tuberculosis and cancer are the celestial means of locomotion. Just as steamboats, buses and railways are the terrestrial means. To die quietly of old age, would be to go there on foot.”
Book Recommendation :
A Hunter-Gatherer's Guide to the 21st Century: Evolution and the Challenges of Modern Life : A book on how to lead your life as our ancestor used to. It reached me a lot about childhood and how schooling should be done. Must read if you want to know more about evolution.
All About Love: New Visions - As the name suggests it’s a book about love. There is nothing that I can explain in this matter cause it’s so unique and liberating experience in itself. Read it, if you also find the topic self love confusing and the phrase ‘love yourself‘ monotonous and there is nothing to be known in this matter.
I guess that’s it for this week. Looking at the newsletter, it looks too much recommendation to be read in just a week. It’s okay if you don’t; there is no hurry take your time and experience the knowledge.
Goodbye and just one last thing. If you like this share it with your friend.
